Inside the Business World
Sandy Spring Friends School, sponsored by the Financial Innovation Analytics Club, had an event featuring Aaron Meisner, alum of Sandy Spring in 1984. He came to speak on common applications of finance in his position of financial advisor at Merrill Lynch, but also in the world. The full event can be found on the Facebook page titled “Financial Innovation Analytics”.
With an audience of about 30 students and 15 faculty, Aaron started talking about spoke about his path to where he is today, and his overall purpose as a financial advisor. With some jokes and stories, Aaron connected to his young audience, with examples ranging from Yeezys to financial calculators. Aaron simplified the world of money as we know it to core values that students from the SSFS community can identify with. The audience even learned about the school as a client of Aaron’s and its values for stock investing. At the end of the talk, Aaron opened up for questions, making sure that the audience knew that “the school (SSFS)” was a client of his. Overall, the talk was very successful in introducing a broader community to the values of finance as well as adding some new members to the club.
