Students at SSFS Update Us on their Search for the Perfect Prom Dress
With spring approaching, juniors and seniors attending Sandy Spring Friends School have officially started their search for the perfect prom attire. Endless searches online and in stores have caused havoc for the teenagers. For one student, the stress has been overwhelming, “My ideal dress is red,” she says. “And, and it’s flowy and long…maybe even strapless? But, Lauren kind of took that dress style so…now I only have two months to find a dress which is basically impossible so…so, I don’t even think I’m gonna go to prom anymore.” Distraught, with tears flowing down her face, the student manages to push through those tears to tell us how she knew that this so-called Lauren had viciously stolen her ideal dress.
Apparently, to ensure that none of the SSFS gals have the same dress, the junior and senior classes created a facebook page. The girls update each other on their search, posting pictures of what their dress will potentially look like. Posting on the site is absolutely crucial for the girls to prevent having the same, or even similar dress and/or dress color as anyone else. After all, to have the same, or even similar dress, and/or dress color as anyone else would be a tragic turn of events for this time-stopping, life-changing event because as every teenager knows, what one decides to wear for prom will make or break their impending future. Without the right dress, one won’t have the perfect picture, which means that one will have a horrible picture to post on social media, so no guys or girls will like their picture, meaning that one will never find their future husband/wife and will live a cold, lonely, and unsatisfying existence.
While the girls are busy with their never-ending search for the exact style and length of their dress, the boys are doing…well nothing, according to the girls. A key student, Maya Carolina, has claimed that when she told her boyfriend that she does not know what color dress to wear that will perfectly match both of their eyes, her boyfriend said, “Let’s just wear blue.” She recalls her response: “BLUE?! My. Eyes. Are. Brown,” she yelled angrily. “How could he say such an insensitive thing?!” she said teary-eyed during our exclusive interview. Maya informs us that she is currently looking for a new prom date.

This really captures how stressful finding the perfect prom dress is and how one little mistake no matter how big or small can make us feel like, if it’s not right it’s the end of the world.
